Saw today that Bumblefoot is gonna be playing the Blue Feather Music Festival this year in Whitehorse, along with the return of Russ Dwarf (wherever he went ;) ), and the return of our friend Michel, who will be banging away on the pots and pans for Buffy St Marie. The Blue Feather is a great festival with the best stage and lighting this side of Pink Floyd, it's for a good cause, and Gary is helping keep rock n roll alive...So get off your ass and get your tickets!
I watched Bumblefoot play when he was on tour with Yngwie Malmsteen and the amazing Gary Hoey. As a guitar player I've followed him for quite a while, first becoming aware of him thanks to Guitar Techniques, which you used to be able to buy in town, but can't no more : ( The Yukon connection is that I was lucky enough to be on a CD with Bumblefoot called the Cigar Chronicles that my buddy Justin produced. It also featured Mark Slaughter, Jani Lane from Warrant, Tim Gaines from Stryper, Kip Winger, Bill Leverty from Firehouse, Jamie Rowe from Guardian (who I got to record with), Tony Harnell, George Lynch, Eddie Ojeda, Jeff Lebar, Mark Kendall, and others, and CJ Snare from Firehouse mixed it all, which means he got to listen to my guitar playing. Those were a lot of my heroes and they probably contributed to a lot of hearing loss. I know this is not a huge connection but hoping to get to hang with Bumblefoot and get my CD autographed. This guy is the real deal and down to earth. Sometimes there have been some amazing after festival jams too, so who knows...Here's a pic of us before his show in Vancouver a few years back.
