*...Free Fallin...*

So right before I was about to do my Jazz in the Hall show, Tom Petty passed away. He was never a big influence on me, but I have played a lot of his songs in bands over the years. I really dug that he wrote all the time and was never caught up in any scandals or anything like that. So it seemed fitting that we pay tribute to him. This is from a jam we did, mid show. I was really trying to go for the John Mayer/Ritche Kotzen tone. Closer to home a guy named Daniel Stark has that tone. I can finally dial that in, thanks to my awesome Fender Deluxe Reverb that Roly made. Colin James played one of his amps and went ga-ga over it. Also, had this guy in Vancouver named Eiichi set up and re-fret my guitar. This guy works on guitar for a lot of big names and he's been long-time friends with my guitar teacher. He gave me new machine heads, a custom bone nut and fixed some of the abuse from years, miles and gigs. We have a lot of nice luthier types here in town but have always wanted this guy to set up my guitar. The Strat I own, I bought off of Robbie and was set up by Eiichi. He's a wizard. So with that guitar, the amp, and my fingers I was able to get that "cool" tone. Check it out if you got time...

Thanks again for checking out my music...
