I've already made it...

*...If you're gonna text me and tell me how excited you are about the new Beyonce album cause it's number one on some music chart, and then tell me I could never compete, or if this applies to Drake or some other flash in the pan, kindly remove yourself from my life. I'm a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. I know I post a lot of demo's of songs I wrote where it's just me sitting around with my guitar and I look disheveled cause I had been up all night writing. The sound quality isn't great and these are songs that will probably never be on a CD of mine. I post almost every song I write, cause it's good practice to finish everything I start, no matter how weird the idea. However, when it comes to shows I play my best songs, and they can hang on stage, with anyone's songs. (Like this song I'm posting a link too). I don't need a team of writers. I'm recording right now and playing almost all of the instruments myself, and doing the vocal harmonies. I don't have a stylist, when I go on stage, it's just jeans and a t-shirt or dress shirt with a scarf. I know a lot of people who are sick and can't exercise or have other health problems and am empathetic to that. I work out almost every day but don't blab about that on stage cause I think it's a slap in the face to those who are sick, and cheesy. Write a good song and let that be your thing. I love Boston cause they'd just go on stage in jeans and a t-shirt and kill it live. Same with John Mellencamp. I do play my own songs. Saturday I did a showcase of my own music. It was a mellower venue so I played a few of my jazzier tunes, some flamenco, folk inspired stuff and killed it. Then later Saturday I was on a big stage with my band and we played two of my songs, and they were slipped in between very famous covers and they fit seamlessly. People danced and sang along. Every song I wrote I have lived it. A lot of the lyrics are about deep things like clean water, saying no to cocaine and addictions, suicide, helping each other out, and a few are about love and just having fun. Maybe I will never 'make it' but I've already 'made it'. Doing what I love every day and nothing else and playing my songs all over the world and here at home. I'm not just a cover musician or hired gun. My music comes first. I do the other things cause it's music and still fun. I'd still love to play a guitar solo in front of 20,000 people, and hope my CDs will reach and touch a lot of people, but if that never comes I'm still happy to be able to pay for my food and my rent from my songs and my playing. Here's to all my fellow artists out there playing their own songs and practicing every day :) Keep up the good fight!!!..*
